The fastest and most effective way to hire remote freelancers… without losing your mind
--
This is my personal guide on how to hire 100% remote freelancers fast so you’re not wasting days and spending unnecessary hours on getting someone to work.
The most dangerous part of hiring people is wasting time for the wrong candidates. Let’s get right into it, follow this simple 3-step process to hire candidates fast and save you hours in wasted time and frustrations:
First, message every candidate with a feeler message
The only purpose of this message is to gauge how fast the candidate responds. You don’t want to work with someone that takes 2 hours to respond. You want someone that is there right when you need them. At all times.
To do that, I simply send all candidates a message saying: “Hey are you available now?” then I wait to see who’s responding fast. If the person takes more than 30 minutes you’re not the priority therefore they won’t get the job.
Don’t underestimate the importance of a feeler message. I don’t even begin to look at their skills unless they respond fast. That’s how important it is.
A person that has the right attitude and is responsive, even if they don’t have the skills, can be trained and get working super fast, saving you time and money.
Imagine you don’t do that. You check every candidate and then send a qualifying question. You’ll realize only 50% of them respond and 10% respond on time (those are made up numbers).
You just wasted hours checking whether the candidate is good, crafting a quality message just to recognise that the person is not even a good worker to begin with!
Waste of time, don’t do that. Always send a feeler message first.
Second, see if they mention specifics about your job description and ask them for questions
If I’m looking for someone to help me with a crypto project I filter out all candidates that don’t even mention crypto in their proposal.
You’d be surprised how many people submit proposals without even reading the title or description.
